Ponies bring joy to hospice

They may only be small, but Buttercup and Daisy lifted the spirits of patients, staff and volunteers when they trotted in to visit the hospice as part of a visit by local company Furry Friends. Dove House Hospice said many of their patients enjoy visits from four-legged friends. Sue Fisher, Senior Sister, said: “Dove House Hospice believes in trying to make every day the best day possible for patients and their families. It is absolutely right that we should pull out all the stops to ensure that our patients and their families receive personalised, compassionate and dignified care at the end of their life. Being able to provide everyone with an opportunity to see Buttercup and Daisy in the hospice was just wonderful. We know from experience the therapeutic benefit animals can bring to patients at the hospice, so we were delighted to welcome Daisy and Buttercup this week.”
