Caring for family members, many of whom are in turn looking after a loved one living with a life limiting or terminal illness, is at the heart of hospice care. The Dove House Family Support Team help by tailoring the support they give to the needs of individual families and carers.
Our staff are experienced and compassionate and they understand the many ways that lives can be altered when a loved one becomes ill. On top of the emotional stresses and strains that you may be feeling, we know there are sometimes practical things that may arise, like financial and work problems, disruption within the family, and of course, the sadness of bereavement.
Providing care for your loved one can, at times, be overwhelming and you may find it difficult to take time for your own self-care. Twice a month, here at the hospice we run our Carers Wellbeing Days, where you can come along to meet people who understand how you are feeling, where you can enjoy a Complementary Therapy session, spend time relaxing in our beautiful gardens, or have fun joining with the activities on offer. If leaving the person you are caring for is usually a barrier to coming to sessions like this, we are pleased to tell you that you can bring them with you and our highly experienced care team will look after them while you can relax and enjoy some time out.
