Did you know we have a Family Room?

The Family Room based at the hospice was created for patients and their families to have a home away from home space where they can have special moments together. It is also used by family as a place for them to be close to their loved while giving them a moment. Doctors also use the room to have conversations that are a little more private to give families a quiet and private space.

The room is complete with cosy seating, a toy box to entertain little ones, a coffee machine, a large dining table for families to enjoy a meal around just like at home, and even an Alexa to make it feel even more relaxing and enjoyable.

Rebecca Brambles, The Family Support Leader leader shares “We have worked very closely together with the retail team to furnish the room and the Maintenace Team. For me, the Family Room is special because it’s like the community is part of it because of the donations that have been used to make the room so wonderful.” Rebecca Bramble, Family Support Team

“I was asked by the family support services, to create a family room at the hospice for the patients and there family members, I felt very honored and privileged to be given this task. This was made possible by the amazing donations we receive from the wonderful supporters of Dove House. Myself and the Furniture Superstore team decided on a colour scheme and we was able to pull together a calming and inviting room with two separate areas for the family to sit and talk and even dine together. Spending the day at the hospice creating this space was a lovely reminder of what we are all working towards and knowing what a difference this room will make to the patients, family members and also the clinical team.” Elise Sharples, Furniture Superstore Manager at Dove House

The Family Room was used over Christmas by a patient and her family to have one last Christmas get together before dying a couple of days later. It is a lasting memory that will live on with the family.
