Thank you

A huge thank you to the amazing staff at Beverley Building Society, who have worked tirelessly to make a special difference to those accessing care at Dove House through their Charity of the Year fundraising activities. Having kicked off their support with an incredibly generous donation of £3,401 to enable the purchase of invaluable equipment for the bedded unit, staff have gone above and beyond with their efforts, with their overall fundraising total now standing at over £7000!

Alongside hosting a variety of ongoing in branch fundraising activities, staff also helped to recruit and donate over 50 chocolate Easter Eggs, bolstered by the kindness of their customers, to be distributed to children attending Dove House’s Children’s Bereavement Groups. Reflecting on this gift, Child Bereavement Coordinator Jill Dolman said:

“The young people and children I see are going through an incredibly difficult time, and to know that someone else has thought of them brought such a smile to their faces. The eggs I gave out delivered some unexpected joy, especially after the children had worked so hard talking about the circumstances of their loved one’s death and how they have been left feeling. Their smiles said it all.”

Staff have also embraced a number of challenges, including participating in the Hull 10k and more recently entering a team in the hospice’s annual “It’s a Knockout” event. There are plenty of further activities planned for the remainder of the year, including a cycle challenge in October.

Speaking about the charity partnership, Beverley Building Society’s Marketing Manager, Debbie Connolly, said:
“As part of its founding purpose, Beverley Building Society is committed to giving back to its East Riding heartland and we’re proud to have chosen Dove House Hospice as our 2023 Charity of the Year. Despite the Hospice’s vital contribution to society, it relies almost entirely on donations for its survival so we’re really motivated to deliver a programme of fundraising and volunteering activities to support the incredible work they do. It’s also been an absolute pleasure working with Jethro and the Hospice team, we couldn’t have asked for a better charitable partnership.”

Jethro Shearring, Senior Fundraiser at Dove House added:

“From the moment that Beverley Building Society first approached us about the Charity of the Year partnership, they have been incredibly passionate about positively impacting their community and have worked incredibly hard to make a truly special difference to our patients and their loved ones. Alongside their fundraising endeavours, we have also been pleased to welcome a number of staff who have so kindly given the gift of their time through volunteering. We are excited to see what the remainder of the year brings and cannot thank them enough for their kindness.”
