New Bereavement Pack

Last month we were very pleased to launch our new Bereavement Packs which are now given to every family if their loved one dies at Dove House.

The packs include a guide with useful information for navigating the difficult days and weeks after losing someone, as well as a special heart badge that can be worn in memory of the person who has died.
We understand that the period after someone has died can be very hard, it’s a time when there are often strong emotions but also a time when the next of kin has to make necessary arrangements. We wanted to create a pack that would support families through this process, presenting information clearly and concisely.
 

Rebecca Brambles, Family Support Team Leader, said:

“It has been a labour of love working with teams across the hospice to create the Bereavement pack.

This is something that every bereaved family will receive, and therefore, was hugely important for us to get right.  We have tried to ensure that important information is conveyed sensitively, and questions that sometimes people are afraid to ask are addressed.

My hope is that people will feel a part of the hospice stays with them, and they know our support remains available both now and into the future.

My favourite part is the keepsake heart badge. For me it is a gentle and lovely reminder to families, that they remain a part of our hospice family too.”
