The Wilberforce Inpatient Unit is here to give the highly specialised person-centred care the hospice is best known for.  Anyone over the age of 18 who is living with a life limiting or non-curable illness can access this care, for help with managing the pain and symptoms caused by their illness, for a period of respite care, and our staff are there to care for patients and their familes at the end of life.

What does person-centred care really mean?  To us, it means getting to know our patients and their families, finding out what their interests are, what they like to eat, getting to know the person and not just the illness.  This helps us to know what is important to everyone we care for, so that everyone is cared for with love, sensitivity and compassion, from the point of diagnosis, throughout their illness, and so that their last days are spent with dignity and quality in a home from home setting.

Our multi-disciplinary team work together to create a package of care that helps all our patients to stay as independent as possible for as long as possible, so they can live the best life they can whilst spending precious time with family and friends, feeling loved and cared for. The doctors, nurses, care staff, therapists and social workers, are all there to give expert care and to make sure patients and families are supported whatever their needs may be.

If you or a loved one have been diagnosed with a life limiting or terminal illness, we are here to help and you can contact us today.
