The outdoor event supports many local causes, including Dove House Hospice, with many gardens hosting plant sales, refreshments and entertainment for all of the family. Gardens range from the mature Edwardian to the small modern garden, with examples of family-centred plots and a sprinkling of the wild and quirky. Last year’s event raised over £7,000 for local charities and it is hoped that 2019 will be its best year yet.
The Open Gardens are situated on Boothferry Road, Chestnut Avenue, Davenport Avenue, Elmswood, Ferriby Road, Livingstone Road, South Lane Southfield and Woodfield Lane in Hessle. As an indication, all open gardens will have signs and balloons outside, whilst a free mini bus service around the village will link all of the gardens for convenience.
Tickets are priced at £4.00 per adult with accompanying children being free. Tickets are available from each open garden.
