Make a donation to brighten our patients' days and receive a unique handcrafted sunflower.
Help Dove House Hospice bloom in this special anniversary year.
By donating to our Festival of Flowers appeal, you will receive a unique handcrafted iron sunflower which will be part of a spectacular display at Dove House Hospice and later at Burton Constable Hall and Grounds.
We have commissioned local ironmongers The Old Smithy to create a bespoke Dove House Hospice sunflower forged from durable metals to withstand all weathers.
The sunflower is shaped from iron and then glazed to replicate the bright yellow of this iconic flower to brighten up every garden. Each sunflower measures around 80cm tall and 20cm in diameter.
The flowers will be displayed at Burton Constable Hall and Grounds where they will be on show from Friday 21st July until Sunday 10th September. The sunflowers will then be yours to take home and treasure.
We rely solely on generous donations from the local community to ensure we can open our doors each day.
£30 could bring home comforts to our patients like home cooked meals and a home from home environment whilst they are staying with us.
£50 enables us to provide a relaxing massage and an hour of ‘me time’ to a patients loved one to help them get back on their feet.
£100 allows us to be there with a hand
to hold offering peace, dignity and comfort in a patients final moments.
Celebrate Someone Special
If you’d like to, you can have your sunflower personalised by having the name of your loved one engraved on the leaves. Each sunflower can accommodate one name (up to 20 characters) but unfortunately messages cannot be engraved.
Please note: sunflowers can also be left plain and do not have to be engraved.
2017 is a special year for Dove House Hospice, as we celebrate 25 years since the official opening of the hospice on Chamberlain Road in Hull by HRH Diana, Princess of Wales.
Today, Dove House is a core part of health provision across East Yorkshire, providing specialist services and support to those with a life limiting illness and those who care for them. The hospices’ impact over the last 25 years has been huge, with many thousands of people reaping the benefits of Dove House’s support when they had no other place to turn to.
By supporting our Festival of Flowers appeal, you will help to ensure that we can continue to deliver our specialist care for the next 25 years and beyond.
Visit the Sunflowers on Display at Burton Constable Hall and Grounds
The sunflowers will be on display at Burton Contable Hall and Grounds from Friday 21st July until Monday 11th September. Sunflowers can still be ordered through the summer and your sunflower will be added to the display when it has been made. We will notify you when it will be on show.
We can post your sunflower to you at the end of the appeal but there is a £4.95 charge for this service to cover postage and packaging costs. We do not make any money from this charge. To add this onto your donation, please do not choose the pre-selected amount, instead, please decide upon your donation and add £4.95 and write this in the ‘other donation’ box. For example-for a £30 donation and £4.95 postage, you would put £34.95 in the ‘other donation’ box. Please ensure you add this onto your donation as the £4.95 in itself is just to cover costs. Any problems, please contact the fundraising team.
PLEASE NOTE: The sunflowers cost Dove House Hospice £15 per flower in materials, admin and processing charges, therefore we are suggesting a donation of £30 to cover that cost and to ensure that Dove House Hospice can make a difference for our patients and their families. Thank you.
