Sarah Louise’s Story

Posted on: April 26th, 2017

Our hundreds of volunteers bring an extensive range of skills and abilities to the hospice, without which we could not continue to provide the range of quality services that we do.

Sarah Louise Dickinson has volunteered with Dove House Hospice for just over six years.  Sarah Lou started helping within the retail division, giving her free time to help out in the Prospect Street Shop and Chanterlands Avenue Shop serving customers, steaming donations and helping to generate some much needed income for the hospice.

Since October 2015, Sarah Lou has donated even more of her time in addition to helping within retail by volunteering on the reception in the main hospice welcoming patients, family members and visitors with a friendly smile and also helps within the Volunteers Department at recruitment events and in the office.

Sarah Lou is one of almost 1100 volunteers that generously support Dove House Hospice by donating their spare time.  Last year in total volunteers donated a staggering 201,376 hours to support Dove House Hospice in areas such as retail, the warehouse, on the reception, in the Lottery department, at fundraising events, gardening, catering, housekeeping, driving, caring for patients and much, much more. Sarah Lou’s commitment to Dove House Hospice, like so many other volunteers means that we can continue our work providing free end of life care to patients and families within the community.
