Little Doves fly to fundraising success

Posted on: August 31st, 2018

Our names are Olivia, Amira, Katie and Merle. The reason why we are raising money for Dove House is because both of my grandads, Nigel Peter Stewart and Keith Atkinson died in Dove House. We all really appreciate what Dove House did for both of them and to make them feel so comfortable in their last days.

My Grandad, Nigel Peter Stewart, was an amazing grandad, father and husband. I was his princess and he was like a father to me. It hurts that I cannot see him again. He was like my best friend, always there for me no matter what. When he told me he didn’t have long left to live, I was crying a river inside but I didn’t want to make him upset too, I just hugged him hoping I could hold on to him forever.

When my grandads died I was so upset but I knew in my heart they would have been in so much pain and discomfort if it wasn’t for Dove House. The best thing was that they got to stay at Dove House and have the care and pain relief they needed whilst we could spend time with them as a family.

I was happy because Dove House is the best place to go to for end of life care and this is why we wanted to raise money for them.

On the 4th August 2018 we (The Little Doves) went to ASDA and did a tombola and we raised £230.52. On 15th August 2018, we did a Bake sale and a ‘Guess the Unicorn’s name’ competition at Gosschalks solicitors. On 19th August, we did a sponsored walk across Humber Bridge and back again doing a three legged race. So far we have raised £415.21. We are still getting sponsors for that. We have a car boot sale coming up as well. At the start we hoped to raise £500. We are now pleased to have raised over £1,000 for the hospice!

Thank for everything you have done for my family and this is us giving you a big thank you by helping people that need you.
