Driffield Fire Update

Posted on: January 31st, 2019

Today (Thursday 31st January) marks a week since the fire which devastated our Driffield Shop. We wanted to take the opportunity to say how proud we are of our wonderful staff Debbie, Fiona and Rebecca who throughout this past week have supported one another and their amazing team of volunteers at what is a very sad and distressing time for them all. We especially want to commend Assistant Manager Fiona who’s quick thinking on the day meant all those in the shop, including a number with mobility difficulties, evacuated the premises quickly and safely and undoubtedly stopped this from being a much bigger tragedy. We also wish to thank Humberside Fire and Rescue, Costello’s Bakery and Coffee Shop and Greggs for looking after everyone on the day and The Buck pub who immediately started raising funds to support us in our hour of need. We have been truly overwhelmed with support and kind words from our wonderful neighbours and customers and are already putting plans in place to pop open a smaller shop whilst the fire damaged shop is repaired. If you wish to support the shop and the hospice at this time either financially, by organising a fundraising event or with donations of stock please contact our Fundraising Co-ordinator Phoebe Broad on 01482 785743 or email p.broad@dovehouse.org.uk who is coordinating this for us whilst the shop is out of action. We will keep you updated with news of our pop-up shop and a likely timeframe for reopening the fire damaged shop in due course. Thank you for your ongoing support it really means a lot to us all, especially our Driffield Shop staff and volunteers.
