Volunteer Q&A

Do you find volunteering rewarding?

“I find it very rewarding. I chat with customers, serve them, replenish the shop floor, and much more. Volunteering for a charity particularly the hospice gives me that feel good factor. It is fantastic when customers give us compliments about how nice the shop looks or that they like our new window display.” Bob

What is one thing you love about volunteering?

“It has to be the social side for me, I love the friends I have made.” Janet

“I love finding a bargain while I am volunteering.” Sarah

“Helping families who are going through the most difficult moments. It's not that I love it but I know how important a kind word, a smile, or a warm cuppa is in those moments because they meant the world to my family when we were in the exact same position.” Jan

Why do you volunteer?

“I wanted to give something back after my husband received such amazing care!” Liz

“Ethical shopping really aligned with my values and while I am on a break from university I wanted to do something with my time and contribute to my community.” Sophie

Does volunteering make a difference to your life?

“It absolutely does, I have purpose in a morning. When I retired I just didn’t know what to do with myself. I needed to add some structure back into my routine and volunteering ticks that box for me.” Helen

“I was lonely after my wife died, volunteering and being around like minded people, people who understand loss.” David

Would you recommend volunteering to others?

“In a heartbeat. Volunteering brings me so much joy!” Eileen

“I would more than recommend it, I would actually encourage it!” Keith

“I would say just give it ago, you might just enjoy it. Bob
