Thoughts about Friday Friends

Our social group Friday Friends runs every Friday afternoon at the hospice and is open to everyone, you don’t have to have had a prior connection to Dove House to be able to attend. We reopened our groups late last year after having to close during the pandemic to keep our staff and service users safe. We know from speaking to people how desperately they needed somewhere to go, not feel alone, and during the cost-of-living crisis somewhere warm. So, to be able to welcome people back in once again has been a delight.

Recently we asked our wonderful Friday Frienders why they enjoyed coming each week and we were humbled by what they said.

It is lovely to see the hospice open again for people to come in for our Outpatient Services and the buzz once again is excellent.

“I can’t recommend the groups enough, they are friendly, sympathetic and you come away feeling uplifted. We play games, make things and catch up with everyone. I have made lovely relationships with some of the others that also attend which is really nice.”

Join us every Friday 1 – 3 pm and there is no need to book, just turn up at our Amy Johnson Community Hub at the hospice.

Everyone is welcome, you do not need to have been to the hospice before, or know anyone who has, to come to Friday Friends.
