The Smile Room reopens it's doors

A family member of a patient said:
“The Smile Room is fantastic and my little boy loves the train set. It has helped him feel comfortable coming to the hospice to visit his Grandad.”

The Smile Room has reopened it's doors which means it can once again be used by children of families that are visiting the hospice, whether it be visiting a family member on the ward, or receicing support from the Family Support Team, the Smile Room is there for the children.

Jill, our Children's Bereavement Co-ordinator expresses how important the Smile Room is:
“Our Smile Room is truly a wonderful resource that we are able to offer to families. I had a family come to the hospice for support and the youngest child was autistic. While I undertook the assessment with the eldest child Mum was able to relax and let her youngest child play happily with the toys in a quiet, safe, and contained area. This resulted in the whole family having a better (and even enjoyable) experience of attending the hospice under difficult circumstances.”
