This summer, a group of local young people are dedicating their time and energy to supporting Dove House as part of a Lifestyle Project, a community initiative aimed at making a positive impact.
Led by Olivia, the group (Evie, Oscar and Sebastian) have chosen to raise money for children who have lost a loved one. Their goal is to support children emotionally and practically during some of the most difficult times in their lives.
“We chose to support Dove House this summer by raising money for the hospice as part of our Lifestyle project. We think it’s such an important and amazing local charity that makes a great difference in our community.
Olivia lost her dad to leukaemia two years ago, and although he spent his last weeks at home, Dove House reached out to her family and supported them. Also, Olivia’s younger brother attended the Children’s Bereavement Group, and it did help him.
We hope we will make a difference through our fundraising and events this summer.”
As well as raising money, the group reached out to ask how they could make things even more special for the children who attend the Children’s Bereavement groups. They are hoping to donate items such as craft resources, books, games, or anything else that might help make the groups more welcoming and enjoyable for children during such sensitive times.
We are so grateful to this inspiring group of young people who are choosing to walk alongside children and families facing the pain of loss. Their compassion, initiative, and generosity truly embody the spirit of community care.
