Dulcies recieves a 5 Star Food Hygiene Rating for the 4th year running!

Here at the hospice, we have just had our annual Food Safety and Hygiene Inspection and we are pleased to share that for the fourth year running we have received the highest possible score, 5 – very good and fully compliant with the law. At the hospice, we have just one kitchen and that kitchen provides meals for our patients, nursery children over at Little Owls, staff, volunteers, and the community through our café Dulcies. We couldn’t be happy to have been given this score once again and are incredibly proud of our team, who work tirelessly to keep our standards high.

The Food Hygiene Rating scheme is a joint initiative by the Food Standards Agency and local authority providing consumers with information about the standard of food hygiene in catering premises. Nicknamed ‘Scores on the Doors’, the inspection looks at the handling of food, how food is stored, how food is prepared, the cleanliness of facilities, and how food safety is managed. Three main elements are checked, these are how hygienically the food is handled, the physical condition of the business, including cleanliness, layout, lighting, ventilation, and pest control, and how the business manages ways of keeping food safe, looking at processes and training.

Our head chef Matt Carmichael had this to say: “We are delighted to have maintained five stars in our latest Food Safety & Hygiene Inspection at the hospice for a fourth year. My team and I take great pride in our kitchen so it is a huge pat on the back to have this recognised again.  We go above and beyond daily for our patients at the hospice to ensure every meal, cake and treat is delicious and to a very high standard.”

Well done team!
