Avenues Open Gardens aims to bloom for local charities!

On Sundays 30th June and 7th July (1pm to 5pm), residents of the Avenues and its surrounding areas in Hull will open their gardens and homes in support of local charities.

The Avenues Open Gardens is an annual event that sees around 50 private gardens open for visitors to enjoy the diversity of gardening styles, interesting and unique architecture of the buildings or to simply be entertained by the many events taking place across the community.

One of the main beneficiaries of the event, Dove House Hospice are appreciative of the hard work and efforts that residents show each year and Dan Clipson, Senior Fundraiser at Dove House Hospice said, “It is wonderful to see the  Avenues community rally together in aid of worthwhile local charities in Dove House Hospice and Rooted in Hull.

Raising awareness and funds of our services is of huge importance to allow us to continue providing care across Hull and East Yorkshire free of charge. Last year’s Open Gardens raised an incredible amount of over £9,000 for the hospice so we would encourage as many people as possible to visit this wonderful snapshot of community life in the HU5 area”.

Tickets are priced at £5.00 per adult and accompanied children are free. Maps and tickets can be purchased at any garden displaying an Avenues Open Gardens poster on the day, or in advance from Dove House shops on the Avenues, in Hull city centre, Beverley or Hessle.
