Day Therapy

Our Day Therapy Unit offers short term interventions for people with a cancer diagnosis or other life limiting illness who have specialist palliative care needs. This means that attendance at the Day therapy unit would be indicated for people whose illness is active and who have specific problems relating to it. A wide range of therapies and interventions are available including :

The emphasis is on improving quality of life and promoting independence.

The staff who provide these services include :

A large part of the staff group is made up of dedicated volunteers who support the multi-disciplinary team in providing a warm and friendly environment.

The Day Therapy Unit is open from Tuesday to Friday. It can offer care to up to 25 people per day and has the capacity and resources to accommodate people who are very disabled by their illness. Following an initial assessment, the patient and his/her family are involved in planning the patient's care. They will remain involved through reviews of care and then in the discharge process.
