We are always in need of volunteers to help in many areas of the hospice. Our volunteers are essential to the work of the hsopice. Some help our patients directly in our Day Therapy Unit or in-patient unit, or in other areas of the hospice such as reception, catering, laundry, housekeeping or gardening. Other volunteers help us to raise the £5 million we need to keep running each year by working in our shops, warehouse or within our fundraising and lottery departments. Current Vacancies
Retail
Volunteer help is needed in all of our retail shops in Hull and the surrounding areas. Help is needed with the sorting and pricing of goods, serving customers and generally helping to keep the shop tidy and inviting to the shoppers.
Lottery Promotions
Help is needed by the lottery promotion team to promote and sell the lottery tickets at various events and outlets in Hull and the surrounding areas.
Lottery Tele Canvasser
If you have a cheerful personality and a friendly telephone manner, with good communication skills you are the person we are looking for to contact our lottery members to promote additional products.
Warehouse Sorters
Come and find the buried treasure! Help is needed to sort through the donated items and prepare them to be sent to our shops. An eye for quality is a must!
eBay Volunteers
Our busy eBay Department needs the help of additional volunteers. This role would involve identifying potential eBay stock, researching the items for suitable prices and also been able to write clear descriptions for the items. Ideally you will have experience in using the eBay and understand the workings of it. You would also need to be able to communicate with customers in a professional manner. Another task involved would be to pack the sold items ready for posting.
eBay Packing Volunteers
The busy eBay Department also requires the help of more volunteers to assist with the packaging of sold items. The items need to be packed in a secure way to ensure that the item is safe enough to be transported through the postal system.
Retail Drivers and Drivers Mates
Drivers and Drivers Mates are needed to drive the hospice vehicles. You’ll be required to collect and transport donated stock including furniture in Hull and the surrounding areas. Some heavy lifting may be involved.
Housekeeping
Volunteer help is needed to support our team of domestic staff to assist with the general cleaning duties or within our fully equipped modern laundry. Weekend help is greatly appreciated.
Catering
We are looking for volunteers to help to with various duties in our busy kitchen. Catering experience would be an advantage.
Care Assistants Day Therapy Unit
We need volunteers to assist patients with their personal care and to help create a friendly atmosphere in which patients can receive their treatments and therapies and enjoy the day's activities.
Patient Drivers and Escorts
Volunteer Drivers and Escorts are needed, using the Hospice's own vehicles, to assist with transporting patients to and from the Hospice and also to hospital appointments.
Hairdressers
Are you a qualified hairdresser with a few hours to spare? If so, we need your help. A simple trim, wash and set or blow dry can bring a great deal of pleasure to our patients.
Fundraising Event Staff
It’s not all about rattling a collection tin! Volunteers are needed to help at our fundraising events that are held throughout the year which help raise vital funds.
