Our New Development

Dove House Hospice embarked on a new build project in April 2009 which will take place over the next three years. The project will see the construction of new and improved facilities at the Chamberlain Road site providing the following:

• Additional 12 respite beds including 2 New family suites
• Community Café
• Physio area including
  • Additional treatment rooms
  • Gym area
• New and improved therapy unit
• Updated office space
• Charity shop on site

The new Respite Unit will be called the Henry and Dora Needler Unit as it was thanks to their generous support that we were able to embark on this new development.

The new build will also benefit the local economy:

• We are employing a local builder (Colin Norton) who will also be recruiting additional workforce from the local area.
• We are using a local builders merchant (MKM) to supply the majority of the material. Only those that are specialist will be sourced outside the area and only if there is no local supplier.
• We will be adopting eco-friendly and sustainable methods where possible such as solar power and water harvesting to reduce our carbon footprint and save money on running costs in the future.
• A local charity – the Hull and East Yorkshire Community Foundation has been engaged to source grants and funds to help fund the build and bring income into the local economy.

Fundraising - Love you 2 Appeal

The new development will cost £5 million to complete. Thanks to the generous donation from the Needler family we are able to get started right away but we still need to raise another £2.5 million to complete the facility - that's £2 per minute!
