Information for Carers
There are many ways Dove House Hospice can help people who care for those with life limiting illnesses.
Anyone who is caring for a patient, who has been to Dove House Hospice, is welcome to use our services. Whether you were caring for the patient prior to their visit or after, you are welcome to join us.
A drop in centre is open every Monday in Day Therapy and the staff can offer advice and help with any questions you may have.

Respite Facilities
Here at Dove House, we offer respite facilities that benefit both the carer and patient. Our facilities include:
- Inpatient Unit- where patients can come to stay with us at the Hospice for a week to allow the carer to have some time to themselves, knowing that their loved one is in good hands.
- Day Therapy Unit - patients can come and visit the Hospice on a daily basis.
- Timber Lodge - a holiday cabin at Burton Constable Park, where patients along with their families can go for a week to enjoy a break together.
Carer's Support Group
A carers' support group is held every month where there is the opportunity to get together, talk and enjoy a lovely lunch with us whilst having some time to yourselves. The monthly meetings are held on different days each month so that everyone has the chance to pop along.
Service User Forum
This is a relaxed informal meeting for patients and carers that takes place every 2 months. It is the opportunity for you to discuss ideas about how Dove House Hospice can improve and develop services. Notes are taken and circulated throughout the Hospice. Then 2-3 weeks later, the Chief Executive, Chair of the Board and Senior Managers attend a feedback meeting with service users to decide how the issues raised can be resolved.
For further information about the forums and support groups, please contact the medical secretaries on (01482) 784343 or email medical@dovehouse.org.uk.
