Public Education

Public education in palliative care is about providing the public with knowledge and information with regard to life limiting illnesses and bereavement and loss.

This is in order that individuals and families may cope more effectively. Nic MacManus, Information & Education Manager, is responsible for Public Education within the Information and Education Department.

Schools Project

The Hospice acknowledges the importance, of children and young people, being aware of what the Hospice does and in dispelling any myths about the work of the Hospice. As part of the project Nic is quite happy to go out and talk to schools and colleges. In addition Nic MacManus was instrumental along with other members of the Hospice team and City Psychological Service, Hull in producing "Lost for Words" a training pack to help teachers and others to support youngsters going through bereavement or any other loss.
