Networking Events
Supporting a charity these days is thankfully not all give and no take. One way we are able to give back is via our "business after hours" networking events which are held three times a year. These events are free to attend for current, former and potential supporters of the hospice with the aim of forming a group of businesses who have similar values and recognise that supporting local causes such as the hospice is also good for business.
In November 2010 we held our second event at Fruit on Humber Street which saw over 70 people from 42 businesses get together and promote their businesses. In keeping with the fruity theme and to break the ice, each person was asked to consider, if they were a fruit what fruit they would be! They were then tasked to "collect their 5-a-day" by speaking to at least five new people.
Guest speaker David Townend, Sales and Marketing Manager for First Hull Trains, kindly gave an insight into his business and explained how he finds working in partnership with the hospice to be a very fruitful relationship.
Our most recent event, the "flipping good" networking event, was held at the Arc Building in Hull on 8th March 2011 (pancake day) and attracted even more new faces. This event showcased our Love You 2 Appeal and members of the hospice's business committee spoke on how and why they support the appeal and inspired others to get involved.
