Pubs and Clubs
Here at Dove House Hospice we are really lucky to be supported by lots of pubs and clubs across the region and there's lots of different things that your local can do to get involved too.
Hosting fundraising events is a popular way for pubs and clubs in Hull and East Yorkshire to raise funds for the hospice - from holding regular events such as quizzes, live entertainment nights and auctions to encouraging staff to get together and go that extra mile and take part in a sponsored challenge event there really is something for every establishment. Pubs and clubs can also have a Dove House Hospice collection box on the bar for customers to put their spare change into and/or can take part in one of our seasonal appeals like having a giant Easter Egg competition or having a Share-a-Card at Christmas instead of sending individual cards to customers. The Plough Inn in Hollym, East Yorkshire is CAMRA's East Yorkshire Village pub of the year 2008 and 2009 and they not only serve a great pint but also hold lots of fundraising activities in aid of Dove House Hospice. To date they have raised a fantastic £3544.20 for the hospice.
Events that have taken place at The Plough Inn include raffles, quiz nights, games nights and in 2009 the hospice was chosen as the charity to benefit from the harvest auction which is held at The Plough Inn in conjunction with St. Nicholas Church, Hollym. The Warton Arms in Woodmansey is popular with people across the region for their great value food and big choice of beers and drinks but they are popular with us here at Dove House Hospice as they go the extra mile to raise vital funds for the hospice.
So far The Warton Arms has raised £2303.60 for the hospice through having collection boxes on the bar and organising two challenge events. In summer 2008 the staff took part in a sponsored hike of Mount Snowdon and in 2009 they organised a Raft Race against neighbouring pubs.
