Hospice pays tribute to Bernard Blashill
Everyone at Dove House Hospice was saddened to hear the news that one of our supporters, Bernard Blashill, died on Friday 12th March 2010. Welwick resident Bernard had supported the hospice for many years and raised many thousands of pounds for us and other charities and organisations.
Every year Bernard organised the Welwick Heritage Weekend on his property and the proceeds from this event were split between Dove House Hospice, St. Mary's Church Welwick and Welwick Village Hall. The 2009 event saw the hospice receive a donation of £2700 from Bernard and his team and the event has raised well over £20,000 for Dove House over the years.
Karinda Jones, fundraising coordinator here at the hospice, said:
"When we found out the tragic news about Bernard we were all very sad to have lost such a keen supporter. He was such a nice gentleman who worked hard for his local community and Dove House Hospice was very lucky to have the support of such a generous person. We truly appreciated all the hard work Bernard put in over the years to raise funds for the hospice and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time."
